Road Trip Recap: Day 6 (Montreal)
"If we get lost just make mom laugh," says one of my children to my husband in the very crowded event tent for the Cirque Du Soliel show.
Wait, what?
Ok, maybe I do laugh too loud, but that's cool now that we can use it in constructive ways.
Our final full day in Montreal, I felt chocolate croissants were mandatory so I scurried to the coffee shop across the street and invested. Along with a large "filtre" coffee, of course.
I can't explain why I'm flattered when people talk to me in French, but I am. I like it and I have no idea what is happening or what they are saying.
While I sat on the big window ledge drinking my morning coffee and watching many people stroll by down below, Sean sat at the table working on preparations for the upcoming football season.
I've written about this before - Sean's devoted passion to football. Whether we were on our honeymoon and he found a way to the computer room at the resort to set his fantasy football lineup or trekking across Europe and on a coin operated desktop at the foot of the mountains in snow-covered Interlaken to check on his teams, Sean's determination to the sport is unmatched. He loves the analytics and the coaching. I mean, he is a 2x Championship Head Coach for Brady's team...but that's not what this is about.
I did say a few times on this road trip that I'm going to leave more space between August 1st (when football training camp starts) and our travels because there was a lot of "football things" that needed tending too.
After fifteen years of marriage, I've come to accept these things. And even love them. Like Sean does with my over the top laughs perhaps. And my post-it obsession.
Just downstairs of our apartment rental is the adorable brunch spot, dandy. There were long lines daily where people happily waited for their turn to dine.
Each day we'd enter and exit the building multiple times and snag glimpses of their strawberry topped pancakes and steaming over easy eggs atop local organic greens. I was curious if dandy was worth the wait, so finally we decided to see for ourselves when Meadow suggested we grab lunch there.
The kids enjoyed their mountain on pancakes with the local strawberries and lemon cream dollop, while Sean and I shared a salad. It was crowded and loud but trendy and oh so yummy. I understood the daily lineup of hopeful diners.
Sean had suggested a few times that we board the Kurious Express and get tickets to Cirque du Soleil, but they were either sold out or not what I'd budgeted for. Eventually, I was convinced and I'm so happy for that because it was AMAZING!
Guess where we went after? Back to our fave brewpub, brewsky, before heading back for our last Montreal snuggle and a family Ryan Trahan video on YouTube.
Tomorrow, we pack up and head on to Lake Champlain. This is the part I've been patiently waiting for. Squeal!
Here we are at the show! Looks like there is no one there but we snuck out minutes before intermission to grab a snack!
