"Be who you are." -Trevor Hall

You are special
You are not special
Each teacher and preacher shares their thoughts

I always felt different
Perhaps you do too
Special we are

Not just me
Not just you
But I and we

The quest for self-understanding
Can leave us with more questions
Relentless and unanswered

But once we realize we're on our way
On a path that helps us understand
That question, that inquiry of "Why am I special?"
Is the necessary projection

We can't feel like a misfit
Once we've landed home.

The curiosity, the feeling outcasted
The "Who am I?"
All propelled us to decoding our own special internal mysteries
